Religionens indflydelse i USA

Pave Johannes den 23. som kommunist

"Religion does more harm than good - poll", Guardian, 231206. (1000 briter, 12/13 dec.) The poll also reveals that non-believers outnumber believers in Britain by almost two to one. It paints a picture of a sceptical nation with massive doubts about the effect religion has on society:  82% of those questioned say they see religion as a cause of division and tension between people.

Incestforbuddet i den kristne udvidede version handler om at svække familien i forhold til Kirken, også økonomisk ved spredning af arven.

William Dalrymple skriver 100507, i Comment Is Free i The Guardian: "In a curious but very concrete way, the fundamentalists of all three Abrahamic faiths have always needed each other to reinforce each other's prejudices and hatreds. The venom of one provides the lifeblood of the others.", se også Se williamdalrymple.com

090807, Lew Rockwell, Gary G. Kohls, The Bombing of Nagasaki August 9,1945: The Untold Story. "Nagasaki is famous in the history of Japanese Christianity. Not only was it the site of the largest Christian church in the Orient, St. Mary's Cathedral, but it also had the largest concentration of baptized Christians in all of Japan....Now it turned out, in the mystery of good and evil, that St. Mary's Cathedral was one of the landmarks that the Bock's Car bombardier had been briefed on, and looking through his bomb site over Nagasaki that day, he identified the cathedral and ordered the drop...And what the Japanese Imperial government could not do in over 200 years of persecution, American Christians did in 9 seconds. The entire worshipping community of Nagasaki was wiped out... A large portion of the responsibility for the prevention of military atrocities like Nagasaki lies within the organized Christian churches and whether or not they soon start teaching and living what the radical nonviolent Jesus taught and lived. "

091003, Daily Star, Donald Wagner, Christians And Zion: British Stirrings. "One of the early expressions of fascination with the idea of Israel was the monograph Apocalypsis Apocalypseos, written by Anglican elergyman Thomas Brightman in 1585. Brightman urged the British people to support the return of the Jews to Palestine in order to hasten a series of prophetic events that would culminate in the return of Jesus....During the decade that followed the year 1800, several Christian writers and preachers began to reflect on the events leading to Jesus' would-be imminent return, among them Louis Way, an Anglican clergyman. Way taught that it was necessary for the Jews to return to Palestine as the first stage prior to the Messianic Age, and he offered speculation as to the timing of Jesus' second coming....A number of influential proto-Christian Zionists emerged in the generation that followed Way. John Nelson Darby (1800-81), a renegade Irish Anglican priest, added several unique features to Way's teachings, including the doctrine of "the  Rapture," whereby "born again Christians" would be literally removed from history and transferred to heaven prior to Jesus' return...Darby's extensive writings and 60-year career as a missionary consolidated a form of fundamentalism called "premillennialism" (Jesus would return prior to the Battle of Armageddon and his millennial rule on earth)...One of the most important figures in the development of Christian Zionism was the Anglican chaplain in Vienna during the 1880s, William Hechler, who became an acquaintance of Herzl. Hechler saw Herzl and the Zionist project as ordained by God in order to fulfill the prophetic scriptures...but it was his indirect contacts with the British elite that led to a meeting with the politician Arthur Balfour.... Balfour's famous speech of 1919 makes the point: "For in Palestine we do not propose even to go through the form of consulting the wishes of the present inhabitants of the country... The four great powers are committed to Zionism, and Zionism, be it right or wrong, good or bad, is rooted in age-long traditions, in present needs, in future hopes, of far profounder import than  the desires and prejudices of 700,000 Arabs who now inhabit that ancient land.""

Islam & kristendom

231206, Guardian "The Muslim prophet born in Bethlehem": In 632, after five years of fearful warfare, the city of Mecca in the Arabian Hijaz voluntarily opened its gates to the Muslim army. No blood was shed and nobody was forced to convert to Islam, but the Prophet Muhammad ordered the destruction of all idols and icons of the Divine. There were a number of frescoes painted on the inner walls of the Kabah, the ancient granite shrine in the centre of Mecca, and one of them, it is said, depicted Mary and the infant Jesus. Immediately Muhammad covered it reverently with his cloak, ordering all the other pictures to be destroyed except that one....During the first three centuries of Islam, Muslims came into close contact with Christians in Iraq, Syria, Palestine and Egypt, and began to amass a collection of hundreds of stories and sayings attributed to Jesus; there is nothing comparable in any other non-Christian religion. Some of these teachings were clearly derived from the gospel - the Sermon on the Mount was particularly popular - but were given a distinctively Muslim flavour. Jesus is depicted making the hajj, reading the Qur'an, and prostrating himself in prayer. (Karen Armstrong).

Yazidis

(oversat fra: REUTERS FACTBOX-Who are the Yazidis?, 150807.

Einstein - "A human being is a part of the whole, called by us, "Universe," a part limited in time and space. He experiences himself, his thoughts and feelings as something separated from the rest -- a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest to us. Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty. Nobody is able to achieve this completely, but the striving for such achievement is in itself a part of the liberation and a foundation for inner security.":

Det illustrerer så stor lighed, at det er ganske ubegribeligt, at man kan strides om religion !!!

Jeg kan rigtig godt lide den jødiske formulering, der er engelsk underfundig.
