11 maj 1857 var der et soldateroprør af de indiske soldater, hvervet af englænderne. En ny engelsk konservativ regering ville skabe et Nyt engelsk Århundrede og påtvinge Indien kristendommen og revidere den lovgivning, der stred mod kristne værdier. Derudover ville man forhindre, at der opstod en konkurrerende magt, Frankrig kunne tænkes. Jawarharlal Nehru og Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi troede på ideer, værdier, normer, men de indiske strategiske tænketanke har den opfattelse, at det at være Verdens største demokrati har mindre betydning end atomprøvesprængningerne i 1998 (Christophe Jaffrelot: "Pari Américain pour l'Inde", Monde Diplomatique, septembre 2006, p. 7).

Den indiske efterretningstjeneste, Research and Analysis Wing, (tidligere chef B. Raman) studerer nøje USAs hemmelige udfoldelser i Pakistans North West Frontier Province. Raman siger, at der er en kæde af lyttestationer i Gilgit og Baluchistan, som følger telefon- og radiokommunikationer, inklusive dem til og fra Inter Services Intelligence. Amerikanerne har haft overvågningsstationer i området i årevis. Bemandingen er bl.a. et større antal amerikanerne af afghansk oprindelse. Man kan lytte ind i Kazakhstan og Xinjiang. Siddharth Srivastava fortæller at på grund af leverancen af F-16 til Pakistan og frygten for at en kneben situation vil USA lave sanktioner, så er Indien skeptisk overfor amerikanske tilbud om våbensalg, herunder specialudgaver af F-16. Man forhandler om køb af Mirage 2000-5, JAS-39 Gripen og MIG-29, foruden at man er ved at få leveret Sukhoi.

070405, International Herald Tribune. Hugo Chávez har besøgt Indien. Indiens stigende oliebehov har også medført overvejelser om en rørledning fra Iran til Indien via Pakistan. Indien har investeret 750 millioner USD i Sudans Greater Nile Oil Project. Og man har en aftale med juntaen i Myanmar om en gasrørledning. USA har udtrykt sin utilfredshed med forbindelsen til Iran, men Indien fortsætter med en aftale om at udvikle en gasblok i South Pars gas feltet. Pramit Mitra fra Center for Strategic and International Studies i Washington, der har skrevet indlægget, mener at Indien står sig bedre ved at udvikle venskabet med USA.

Janes henviser til problemer i kontraspionagen, dels de sædvanlige stridigheder mellem forskeliige afdelinger, dels politiske problemer.

Siddharth Varadarajan, gør 130705 opmærksom på "The Indo-US Military Relationship: Expectations and Perceptions" en rapport skrevet af Juli A MacDonald, Information Assurance Technology Analysis Center for Pentagon. Han advarer Indien mod at lade sig bruge som low-end entreprenør for USA.
Siddharth Varadarajan, skriver 290705 i The Hindu "Sandheden on kerne-aftalen mellem USA og Indien". USA forsøger at tøjle Indiens strategiske vægt til sine egne geostrategiske formål. Det har Ashley Tellis skrevet om: "India as a new global power: An action agenda for the United States", Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, 2005. Det handler specielt om inddæmning af Kina. Indien kommer herved til at stå som en parallel til Israel. USAs udvikling af nye mindre, "smartere" kernevåben bør bekymre Indien, fordi deres eventuelle anvendelse vil nedbryde sikkerheden i Verden og i Asien. Indien er desværre med i USAs udvikling af et missilforsvar. Ser vi på den "globale energi stabilitet" så har Indien ikke fælles interesser med USA. Indien har ingen interesse i at være "hegn" til inddæmning af Kina.

Today, 120 million of the 142 million cultivable hectares is degraded- over twice the magnitude that the Green Revolution attempted to save !...In 1998, around the inception of mass farmer suicides, the World Bank imposed regulations that opened up India's seed market to corporate multinationals like Monsanto. Non-renewable GM crops now replaced a self-sustainable farming system that had been perfected over thousands of years...For example, 75% of cultivable Indian land exists in dry zones. Non GM rice utilizes 3,000 liters of water in order to produce one kilo, while non- renewable hybrid rice requires 5,000 liters per kilo!...Kisan Sabha (AIKS), or peasants front of the Communist Party in India view this agrarian crisis as a direct result of proletarian exploitation. S. Ramachandran Pillai, AIKS president, "called for a united movement of the peasantry to fight the neo-liberal imperialist offensive looming large all over the country."
