Indonesiens militær har brugt mange kræfter på at bekæmpe uafhængighedsbevægelser i Øst Timor - fordi man havde en aftale med Australien, om at dele Øst Timors olie - og i Aceh-provinsen - i skrivende stund ved jeg ikke, hvad de har.
Man må undre sig over, at den amerikanske hjælp til Tsunamiofrene kanaliseres via hele 2 militærorganisationer, US Navy/Marine Corps og den indonesiske hær. Det virker meget foruroligende, at hjælp netop til Aceh skal gå gennem netop det indonesiske militær !! Og det beroliger ikke, at det australske militær er med.
Sidney Blumenthal, tidligere rådgiver for Clinton nu på bladet Salon.com, skriver i The Guardian, 060105, om neocon'ernes aktivitet i Aceh. Bl.a. at Wolfowitz længe har arbejdet på at få lettet alle restriktioner på samarbejdet med det indonesiske militær (indført bl.a. efter mord på to amerikanske forretningsmænd i 2002).
John Pilger nævner et rentefrit lån fra UK til det indonesiske militær til indkøb af Hawk helikoptere - den slags plejer at være bedst mod civile og oprørsstyrker. (New Statesman, 060105). Der er allerede dræbt over 20.000 civile og oprørere i Aceh. Kopassus (indonesiske special operations forces) uddannes af Australien.
The Australian beretter, 070105, at en journalist fik besked på at holde sig til katastrofen og ikke beskæftige sig med forholdet mellem det indonesiske militær, GAM (Acehs befrielsesorganisation) og folket. Der er al grund til at forsøge at få uafhængige observatører ind.
180805, ABC. University of Sydney, Centre for Peace and Conflict Studies har udgivet en rapport: "Genocide in West Papua". Det indonesiske militær brænder landsbyer, voldtager, spreder HIV o.s.v.

The foreign owned gold and copper mines of Irian Jaya, where miners die while working or are killed by security forces and the environment is devastated making life difficult for the province's people, are an international scandal. In West Papua logging companies with close ties to the military have terrible reputations as well for using force against locals as they displace tribal people from their land and destroy the local ecosystem. The atrocities carried out by the military and the government in pursuit of revenues from their resources frequently require the cooperation of foreign transnationals and are supported by World Bank project aid."
